Barmouth Toll Bridge

Back in March for my birthday my Dad took The Boy, Girl and I out for lunch.  On the way to the restaurant we passed the Barmouth Toll Bridge which is only a few miles north of where we live and is on our Welsh Bucket List.  As it was a nice dry day and we had time to spare the three of us walked over the bridge whilst my Father drove the car inland to the first vehicle bridge and then out to the coast to Barmouth.

The bridge itself is the train bridge that crosses the Mawddach River.  It really is a spectacular bridge to see and if you look at my blog header above that is the actual bridge.  A few years back there was an actual toll to cross the bridge but now the bridge forms part of the Welsh Coastal Path and there is no longer a charge.

For my birthday celebration I got dressed up in a new bargain navy spotty dress that I had purchased from Yours Clothing a few weeks earlier and teamed with my new Cath Kidston red spotty pumps.  Just loved the look of the red belt and red shoes against the rich navy of the dress.

Our walk started at the car park for Morfa Mawddach train station which is a lovely little station in the middle of nowhere which is a popular stop for walkers.  In order to catch the train at this station you have to ‘thumb a lift’ for the train to stop.  Something so relaxed and old fashioned but really a fun thing to do.

A must have selfie in the middle of the bridge.  At this point of our walk it was very windy with the wind coming straight down the estuary to sea.

Once at the restaurant, some bathroom selfies.  Always a must have when in a posh bathroom!

After our meal we went a few miles inland to drive along the highest road in Wales to complete another item on our Welsh Bucket List.

Love this post! We have a caravan in Dinas Mawddwy so spend many happy days in Barmouth. Have gone over the bridge by train, but not on foot.
