Chester Zoo

As you may have guessed we have spent a few days at the end of the school holidays away. We would have loved to have gone abroad but we had a change of plans when the girl was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease at the beginning of July. It’s a good job really that we changed our plans as she would never have coped with the stress of a trip abroad as she was so tired. I also didn’t want to risk being in another country, where we didn’t speak the language In case we had any problems with her nasal gastric tube.

We decided on a couple of nights in Llandudno so we could tick off the Great Orme Tramway from our Welsh Bucket List. I fancied more than 2 nights away so choose to stop at Chester for a couple of days before Llandudno.

We had a overly time in Chester but the highlight of this part of our time away was a trip to Chester Zoo.

From our hotel we walked around the corner to the train station. I knew that a bus direct to the zoo left from there but was unsure which bus stop it left from. I was quite surprised that what must be Chester’s biggest tourist attraction did not have a big sign saying which bus stop for the zoo.

Whe the bus arrived I was a little surprised to find out you had to get your ticket from the train station over the road not on the actual bus.

It was only a 20 minute ride to the zoo but we then had a 10 minute walk to the gate. With 2 of us having Rheumatoid Arthritis the walk to the gate was a slow one.

Once inside we had a fabulous day.

Not surprised you were tired after visiting the zoo – it’s pretty big to walk around isn’t it? Seems daft about the buses – you’d think they’d stop virtually outside as well.

Going to the Zoo can be tiring…even for mummies! They look like they had a good time. Sometimes the best days are being local and not worrying – it means you can spend your time enjoying the fun. #CountryKids

I love Chester Zoo! We went last Christmas – we especially wanted to see it after watching Our Zoo on TV. I’m not surprised you were tired – it’s a massive place! Glad you had such a lovely time.
