Family Meal Planning Monday (8 June 2015)

I really love family meal planning.  I am finding that is it easier for us to be more organised as a family when we know what we will be eating each day.  I also find it frees up more time to enjoy valuable time together as a family.  This is something I am finding more difficult to achieve as the children get older.  I’m sure you will also agree it’s hard to spend quality time together.  The one great advantage to us as a family is that family meal planning saves money and food waste.

This week our food shop has come to £70 as I’ve needed to top up on some cleaning products.

This week we will be having:

Monday – Savoury Bread & Butter Pudding

Tuesday – Pork & Mushroom Pasta

Wednesday – BBQ Jacket Potatoes with bacon & beans

Thursday – Cottage Pie

Friday – Takeaway

Saturday – Sausage & Mash

Sunday – Roast

Breakfasts will be cereal, toast or our version of a mcmuffin. Lunches will be sandwiches or soup.

A few days ago on my cooking blog I posted the recipe for how we make our version of McMuffins.  Its a great recipe that can be made in advance, popped in the freezer and then heated through in the microwave in the morning.  I find they really do fill the children up until lunch and they also are super speedy which can only be a good thing when getting children out to school in the morning.

Linking up our family meal planning with At Home with Mrs M where you can find plenty of other meal plans.  Hopefully they will give you some ideas to feed your family. If you haven’t visited before, please pop over to my cooking blog where you can find some family friendly recipes we like to eat.

I like to meal plan too but don’t always manage to get round to it. On those weeks I feel I spend more money and more of my time thinking up what to cook.
Thanks for sharing your weekly meal plan, it is always great to get new ideas.

Hi Candace, I’m intrigued by the savoury bread and butter pudding! I suspect meal planning like this would be a great cost saver, good idea 🙂

I’ve never tried meal planning before. I normally buy a load of food then cook it lol! But I can see having a shopping list would save you time and money in the supermarket.
