Progress On The Boy’s Blanket

Last week I had a sneak order for some yarn for The Boy’s blanket.

I knew I was going to follow the same pattern as The Girl’s blanket and got out some paper and pens and drew up the colour placement.

I purchased a few of each colour and I am not yet sure how many I will need.  Whilst at the hospital last Wednesday I began on the large square.  This is a 12 round square.

imageUpon returning home I have continued with the light turquoise squares as I had only purchased 2 dark turquoise and the large square used up both balls.  For the light turquoise I need to made 1 x 10 round 1 x 4 round and 2 x 2 round:

The photos really do not do these colours any justice especially as they have been taken inside as we have had some rain again here and it has not been practical to go outside to photograph the squares outside.

This week I am going to be moving on to the green colour.  I have 3 balls of the green and with a bit of luck I may be able to complete all of the 7 green squares needed.  I am going to work through all of the colours before I place another order for any extra yarn needed.

Details of the yarn I am using can be found here.

Well, I think despite the light the colours look gorgeous! I’m a lapsed crochet-er and hope to get back to it one day when I have a few spare hours again!

Oh my, that yarn looks yummy. The colors are just so happy. Your squares are coming along great, they will love the finished blanket I am sure. I never learned needle work of any kind, I am all thumbs, but love to see what others create. Happy WOYWW! Winnie#71

How fun and I love the colors. I wish I knew how to do it. My sister does and also my sister n law so I have some blankets they made for Charlie but as for me I just do not have the patience to even try.

That looks like a really interesting take on a granny squares blanket. I think that bit of green in the mix will make it all work well.

    Happy creating and Happy Woyww,

Definitely envious….. I struggle with crochet now – my joints don’t like it at all which is a shame as I think crochet is a lovely craft (and it grows a lot quicker than knitting!!) Colours look great – looking forward to seeing the finished blanket!

Hmm…I tried to crochet a few years back but it was a disaster. It just kept growing in an every increasing circle until it was just a frill.
Enjoy WOYWW and thanks for sharing ;D

Those colors are going to work well together. A nice granny square is such a fun thing to make. And it goes fairly quickly.

Oh I’ve just bought some of this Paris yarn in shades of lilac through to purple…and it’s laughing at me, because I’m not ready to use it and I swore I wouldn’t have more than one thing on the go! I like the colours that you’ve chosen..and I think you’re really quite prolific!
