A Sunny Saturday Spent On The Beach

Last Saturday the weather here was fantastic and I made the decision that we going outside and having some quality family time.  Yes, there was a little whingeing from The Boy but that soon faded.
The tide was out so  off to the beach we went.
Sinking in the sand.
Paddling in the rock pools.
Until we got to the ancient forest.
Yes, I did say ancient forest!  When the storms hit the Welsh coast the beginning of January the sea was very rough.  It hit our town so hard a large amount of the sand from the beach was washed away.  At the south ed of the beach the sea uncovered an ancient forest.
What you see are trees thousands of years old.
After nearly 2 hours playing in the forest pools I could see that the tide was turning.  We had to get moving and walk down the beach before it came in.
And were they brave paddling in the sea this time of year?
Watch this and decide!

Brrrr I bet the water was cold – what a brave girl! Well despite the initial reluctance they looked like they had a fab time. How amazing for the forest to be uncovered, what an interesting place to explore. Thanks for linking up and sharing your fun with Country Kids.

It’s been a very cold and wet winter here and we haven’t been able to get on the beach much. This was the first time this year that we have spent some real time there.

Wow, that’s amazing! How lucky for you guys to have seen and touched an ancient forest uncovered by the storm. If only there’s something that can be done to preserve it, but I guess since it’s on the beach, that might be a little bit tricky. #CountryKids.

It’s a little blowy here today so certainly no beach fun after school tonight. Got blown around a bit when I walked across sea front on the way to the hospital first thing.

An almost deserted beach, rock pools, warm sunshine and fossilised trees – can I come next time please. That is my kind of beach day!
