Life has just been so so hectic this year and to be honest I really don’t know if I am coming or going. it seems one thing after another has gone wrong since the New Year and everything is just out of my control. We are now 2 1/2 months in to this year and it is time I started to try and take control.
Firstly, I am starting with our eating habits. This includes money spent on shopping, what we eat and food waste. I do 99% of my food shopping online with Asda and we have our weekly shop delivered on Mondays.
This week there is a birthday or some ‘nice’ extras have landed in the basket which means our food shop has cost £110. It’s usually around the £80. Mark but that also includes toiletries, cleaning products and pet food. I think this is till a little on the high side for a family of 3 and I’m hoping if I get back to meal planning I can at least reduce this by 15 to 20%. I’m not quite sure if it’s the cost of items but our shop used to be about £25 cheaper a week say 6 months ago. Over a year, that is an increase of £1,300. If I can get the bills down that would make a lovely holiday somewhere.
i’d love to cut our shopping bill and save £1,000 by the end of the year and I am hoping that by documenting buying and eating habits I can do that.
This week we plan on having:
Monday – Burgers
Tuesday – Spaghetti Bolonaise with extra mince cooked to make a lasagne for later in the week.
Wednesday – Sausage Casserole
Thursday – Lasagne
Friday – Birthday Treats
Saturday – Roast Chicken
Sunday – Risotto
Breakfast will be cereal, toast or yogurt with berries. Lunch will be sandwiches/homemade soup
Now let’s see if I can save enough for a holiday next year!
I’d be interested to know how much your weekly food shop costs. Am I really over spending for a family of 3?
