I wrote last week about how I had purchased a new winter coat as I had lost some weight a my old coat was a couple of sized to big. I like to have a smart and casual winter coat so that I can dress for the right occasion in the cold weather.
I usually go for a black or dark colour as my smart winter coat and then perhaps something a little brighter for my casual coat.
This year I browsed online for a coat and came across this one in Next that I liked: This was exactly what I was looking for; a smart winter coat in a slightly lighter/brighter colour that I usually picked.
When we went back to the Midlands, I went to Next in the local shopping centre. I picked up the coat and made my way to the fitting room. On the way passing the exact same coat in bright red. I plucked up some courage and took both coats to try on. To my surprise the camel coloured coat made me look washed out. I tried the red coat on…..To my surprise, I fell in love. We had quite a few things to take back to Wales and with the weather still being very mild there was no way of getting a bulky winter coat home. I put them both back on the rails and left.
This was a couple of weeks ago now and with the weather suddenly getting a lot cooler I need to buy a new coat quickly. I went down to Aberystwyth and in to the next store there. To my horror they didn’t have this lovely coat I had fallen love with in either the camel or the lovely red. A lively member of staff said she could order it in for me for next day delivery. When we were going through the catologe to find the coat I spotted the petite and also the tall version. I was unaware that Next did taller versions for ladies 5ft 10 and over. That was all I needed. Sold.
I’d been a little upset when I tried it on originally as I hoped it was slightly longer. Something living me the sea I knew I would benefit from.
Next day my lovely new red coat arrived. Just a shame the bitter winter wind had arrived and caused havoc with us taking photographs!
I really did surprise myself for choosing a bright red coat instead of my usual boring black colour.
