Pinterest Loves (April 2015)

I love Pinterest and like most people who use the site I can lose many hours looking at pretty things and pinning them.  Back in October 2013, I wrote a post about a particular board I was loving.  The board was to be the colour scheme of my bedroom when we finally get our new home.  Fast forward 18 months and I am still loving this colour scheme.

On a previous blog I used to do a regular post every Friday about 5 favourite things I’d seen that week.  It was fun to look back and trends and also some varied items I had discovered.  I’d love to recreate similar posts here but feel that every week is a little too much and I am hoping I can try and get a Pinterest love post up every couple of months.

One board I have been visiting quite a bit lately is my ‘Dining Room’ colour inspiration board.  I want rich tones with mismatched painted chairs in different colours around a huge farmhouse style table, nothing too formal, just everyday relaxed family dining.

These are the colours I envisage:

I’d love the space for a large painted Welsh dresser, perhaps something like this:

If room is an issue I could settle for a smaller dresser as long as there is space to put vases, crockery, photos and nic-naks but with large cupboards to hide junk away.

I’d love pale grey walls, possibly one an aubergine colour with painted floor boards.  In the middle, a farmhouse table with odd painted chairs.  Us eating off retro looking crockery matching the colour scheme.

I love the idea of galvanised buckets and glass bottles and vases decorating the space all with a shabby retro quirky feel.

again this is perfect: pink shades of for bridesmaids, use lavender for flower girls, use accenting wild flowers with baby's breath and use old galvanized buckets, pails, pots etc. for containers. have it in a garden or a country field. what ever makes you happy. but this can be as simple as you want, romantic, whimsical.. sunshine:-)

If room allowed a nice squidgy sofa or chair would be lovely.

Silver and purple lounge, oh my. I might go for a white sofa instead, this would probably look cold. Maybe some orange or yellow accents would help.

I’d love french doors opening in to the garden with buckets of flowers on the steps helping to bring the garden in to the house. Top of the wish list would be an open fire or wood burner with a quirky twist.

What are you taking inspiration from right now? Do you have dreams about how your perfect home would look?

ooh, I love that colour scheme! And I love Pinterest for this sort of thing too.
I am a great lover of buying home magazines and ripping out the pages that inspire me. I have great wedges of magazine pages on my desk and in drawers!

Big fan of Pinterest here. Used to do the magazine thing but I’d just ended up with piles of papers. Much easier to find what you are looking for with pinterest

I’m really liking all your ideas – my house came with a built in dresser which sadly it got ripped out when a 21st century kitchen got put in – so there’s a ‘dresser’ designed with the units now instead, and I love that too!

I am getting ready to paint our dining room and living room, and like you I want rich color on my walls. Enough with the pale walls already! Mine will be a dark caramel color.

Rich caramel colour sounds lovely. It’s getting the balance right with this ice shades so the room doesn’t look too dark
