A Day Trip To Cricceith

This half term we went on a day trip along the Cambrian coast to the seaside town of Cricceith.  Cricceith is a beautiful seaside town with 2 lovely beaches which are separated by 13th Century Castle perched high on a rocky peninsula overlooking Tremadog Bay in North Wales.  This visit gave us the opportunity to tick 2 items off our Welsh Bucket List.

We walked from the train station down to the south beach, a walk of around 10 minutes via Cadwaladers Ice Cream Parlour.  The Girl was in her element!  Tubs and tubs of yummy ice cream and sorbets.  All colours and flavours you could imagine.

The Girl picked a mango sorbet with fudge stick with added gravel after she applied the 2 second rule when she dropped it on the floor!

Such lovely lovely views of the castle from down on the south beach and such fabulous views from the top of the hill at the castle.

We stayed in Pwhelli back in 2009 and went to Criccieth. We walked past the castle but didn’t go in as it was very similar price to go to Caernarfon and we figured there would be more for our then 10 year old to see and do there. Love North Wales though #countrykids

I do love Wales’ castles but my own childhood holidays focused on different north Wales ones so lovely to read about this. And I agree about the dropped ice cream! #countrykids

I love Criccieth! We spent summer holidays, odd weekends and half terms there when I was a kid. It’s a lovely place and it was a must to visit Cadwaladers for an ice cream (although they didn’t do so many flavours back then!).

We stumbled across Cricceith back in October when we were in the area, it is a beautiful place. We walked along the beach and actually stopped for lunch in Cadwaladers. I hope to get some time in April when we are back in the area again to go to the top of the hill to the castle.
