Meet Our New Girls

In February we sent off for Wolverhampton to collect some new members of our family.
After a little wait they arrived.
Inside were cages of ex commercial hens.  Rescued from slaughter.
When they reach 12 to 18 months old they are on longer viable and farmers slaughter them.  Some are lucky and get rescued.
Ours went in to their boxes and made their way back to our house.
We had an egg on the way home.
in their new forever home.
Tasting freedom for the first time.
The next morning an egg.
After 2 days enough eggs to make scrambled eggs for breakfast.
and a quiche
Tomorrow we are getting six more rescue hens.
