Taking The High Road

In February I blogged about our bucket list for Wales and how we are looking forward to some fun adventures where we now live.  We were off out for a meal for my birthday and on the way back went on a little detour to drive along the highest road in Wales.

The road itself was very narrow and the scenery stunning. Sadly there were few places we could stop to take photos and when we could there was a little haze.

At the top the sheep roam over the road and were grazing along side the road.

Stopping for some photo’s part of the way up.  These photos really do not do the views justice.  They are stunning.

Perfecting our posing again!

At the highest part of the road there is a little parking place with a sign giving some history and facts about the area.  Towards the north (way we are facing) is the Cwm Cynllwyd and towards the south is the Dyfi Valley.  At the end of this valley is where we live.

At this point the skies turned a little grey.  Luckily we managed to grey home before the rain started.Bimage10-300x300

With this trip we now have one item ticked of our Welsh Bucket List.  Just another 20 to complete.

What have you got in your bucket list?

We often dream of visiting places faraway, exotic locations across the world.  But what about places right on your doorstep?

Do you have a dream list of places to visit where you live?

Wales certainly has beautiful scenery. The mountains rising each side of the road are spectacular. I’ve driven into the north of the country several years ago and loved it.

Beautiful scenery I love the pictures. There are so many places right here at home I would like to go and summer after summer life seems to get in my way…

Exactly what we think which is why we are making a conscious effort to see where we live from the eyes of a tourist

I think you are so right, there are always places to go right on our doorstep! After spending last year settling in here in the US I’m hoping to do a bit more exploring this year, even if it’s still fairly close to home 🙂 #PoCoLo

Beautiful scenery. Wales is the only country in the UK I have yet to visit, but I should make the effort based on these pictures #countrykids

What a great post – the scenery looks absolutely incredible! I have fond memories of Wales as we used to go to Pembrokeshire on holiday when I was a child. A remote place called Druidstone – it’s beautiful there. It looks like it’s wonderful where you are too. Lovely post, thank you so much for sharing #whatsthestory

Fantastic photos! I’d be a right wimp and would be terrified on that road. I don’t have a bucket list, maybe it’s time I got one?
